Healthcare costs in the US have been increasing faster than overall inflation

The American healthcare system is a big mess that’s complicated and expensive. It’s been changed so many times as different politicians, special interests, and lobbyists have had competing agendas over the years. The result is a really expensive and an unpleasant experience to the point where healthcare feels like a privilege and not a right.

Even for those who are lucky enough to have good health insurance, many still don’t seek medical help because copays are still high. About 25% of Americans say they’ve delayed recommended healthcare procedures because of the cost. And half of those say that they’ve ended up with worse medical problems because of the delay.

The $320K is the average amount that people with employer based health insurance plans will spend out of their own pocket during their adult lifetime. Which is crazy to think that is the amount AFTER your health insurance pays on your behalf.

So, what do you do?? Focus on what is in your control. Make sure you have an emergency fund in case of unexpected circumstances. Invest your long term savings in low cost index funds so you can continue building your wealth. And do your very best to take care of your mental and physical health!

As always, reminding you to build wealth by following the two PFC rules: 1.) Live below your means and 2.) Invest early and often.‎
