How big is the markup on alcohol?

We’re all for spending money in the areas that you value and being frugal in areas that don’t excite you. Going out to drink at a bar may bring precious memories and connections, but if you wake up the next morning regretting that $200 bar tab, it may be time to make some changes. We don’t think you need alcohol to have fun, but if you want some liquid courage, there are creative ways to be frugal about it!

Here’s the math in the post. You can buy a decent bottle of whiskey from a grocery store for about $25. That one bottle contains about 17 shots in it and $25 divided by 17 equals $1.47. That’s eight shots for the price of one!

And remember, in any ways that you are able to cut back, take those savings and spend it on stuff that you value more – whether it’s a nice meal to help with your hangover or index funds to eventually get you financial freedom.

As always, reminding you to build wealth by following the two PFC rules: 1.) Live below your means and 2.) Invest early and often.‎
