Super Bowl tickets are ridiculously expensive this year. Ticket prices have been rising rapidly for most of the past decade, but this year alone they are 70% higher than last year. They make the high inflation we have been experiencing at the grocery store the last few years look minor.
The first Super Bowl was in 1967. The cost of a ticket was $10. Adjusted for inflation, this number is $93 today. You probably can’t even buy snacks and a couple beers at the Super Bowl this year for that amount of money.
Why is the Super Bowl so much more expensive this year than in years past? Probably a combo of a lot of factors, that include the teams playing, Taylor Swift, Las Vegas, the stadium layout has more suites, boosting up the average price, etc.
We are using average resale value ticket prices for the events listed in the post. In all of the numbers, there is a ton of dispersion around the average depending on which event you attended, how good your seats are, how much in advance you purchase the tickets, and so on.
As always, reminding you to build wealth by following the two PFC rules: 1.) Live below your means and 2.) Invest early and often.
